Chinese FM: Broad consensus reached at China-Vietnam ‘3+3’ strategic dialogue

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Tuesday that China and Vietnam reached broad consensus at the first ministerial meeting of the China-Vietnam “3+3” strategic dialogue on diplomacy, defense, and public security.

Speaking after the meeting and the 17th China-Vietnam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation in Hanoi, Wang said both sides exchanged views on international developments, political security, and defense and law enforcement cooperation.

He added that China and Vietnam agreed to coordinate high-quality development and security, support each other’s reform and opening-up efforts, and enhance cooperation in diplomacy, defense, and public security. Both sides also committed to managing differences, reducing risks, promoting global initiatives, upholding the UN-centered international system, and opposing hegemonism and unilateralism.
