China’s Foreign Ministry said the United States has clarified that a potential visit to China by President Donald Trump is not connected to shipping issues in the Strait of Hormuz. Spokesperson Lin Jian said both sides remain in contact about the visit schedule, with no further details available.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent also dismissed media reports claiming the trip was delayed because Washington wanted Beijing’s help reopening the key waterway, calling the claims completely false. China said it noted the US clarification that the visit is unrelated to the Strait of Hormuz situation.
