Wang Yi, foreign minister of China, urged all parties to push for an immediate halt to military operations in the Middle East during a phone call with Badr Abdelatty, foreign minister of Egypt.
Both sides expressed concern over the escalating conflict and supported resolving disputes through dialogue rather than force. Wang said prolonging the fighting would worsen civilian suffering, damage the regional economy and threaten global stability.
China said it is ready to continue coordinating with Egypt and other regional countries to help de-escalate tensions and promote peace.
