Trump says strikes will end ‘soon,’ Iran lays out three conditions

US President Donald Trump said Wednesday that military strikes against Iran will end “soon,” though officials indicate the campaign may continue for at least two more weeks. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian outlined three conditions to end the conflict: recognition of Iran’s rights, reparations, and international guarantees against future attacks.

Since February 28, more than 1,300 civilians have been killed and nearly 9,700 civilian sites destroyed in Iran, while seven US troops have died and around 140 have been wounded. Iran has launched its 40th wave of attacks, shifting from proportional retaliation to continuous strikes against US and Israeli targets.

Iran warned that US attacks on its ports would trigger massive retaliation and threatened to close the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil route. The US, meanwhile, says it has struck over 5,500 targets in Iran, including 60 ships and 17 military facilities, while monitoring possible drone attacks on the US West Coast.

The Israel Defense Forces conducted new air strikes on IRGC facilities in Tehran and western Iran, and tensions continue to disrupt global markets. Trump emphasized US strength in the region and indicated attention to the Strait of Hormuz, without clarifying concrete actions.
