Xi Jinping on Saturday called for fully leveraging political loyalty within the military and advancing the modernization of People’s Liberation Army and People’s Armed Police Force. Xi made the remarks during a plenary meeting with military deputies at the fourth session of the National People’s Congress.
Xi said that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012, the Party has strengthened political rectification and loyalty in the armed forces, achieving notable progress. He stressed that there is no place in the military for those disloyal to the Party or involved in corruption, calling for strict oversight of key areas such as fund management, power use and quality control at the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
He also emphasized strengthening Party leadership and organizational development in the military, ensuring that modern weapons are operated by politically committed personnel, and improving training for joint operations, new combat forces and high-level technological innovation.
