China proposes six major projects centered on food and energy security

China has proposed six major projects focused on food and energy security in the draft outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development (2026–2030), according to a government work report submitted Thursday to the country’s top legislature. The report outlines 109 key projects across six areas aimed at ensuring the effective implementation of the plan’s goals, selected for their strategic value, guiding role and long-term impact. These initiatives are considered crucial for both China’s current and future development and will include not only physical investment but also institutional development. The government said it will use public investment to encourage greater participation from nongovernmental actors and ensure the projects strengthen key foundations, address weaknesses and sustain economic growth.
