China’s new quality productive forces have grown steadily, with major advances made in science and technology, according to a government work report delivered by Premier Li Qiang at the opening of the fourth session of the National People’s Congress.
The report said China has made significant progress in fields such as artificial intelligence, biomedicine, robotics and quantum technology, while also achieving breakthroughs in the independent development of semiconductor chips.
It also highlighted key projects, including the launch of the Tianwen-2 interplanetary probe, expanded applications of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, and the start of construction on a hydropower project in the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River. The report added that the aircraft carrier Fujian aircraft carrier has been officially commissioned, while China-developed large AI models are helping drive the global open-source AI ecosystem.
