AMD clinches maga chip supply deal with Meta

Advanced Micro Devices announced a deal to sell up to $60 billion worth of AI chips over five years to Meta Platforms, with Meta allowed to acquire up to a 10 percent stake in AMD as part of the agreement. The move comes amid intensifying competition for AI chip supply, with rivals such as Nvidia and Alphabet also securing major partnerships.

Under the deal, AMD will supply six gigawatts of chips, beginning with its upcoming MI450 hardware later this year. Meta also plans to purchase customized central processors designed for efficiency and inference tasks, positioning AMD’s technology to compete with Nvidia’s next-generation offerings.

The partnership reflects deepening cross-ownership ties in the AI sector, as major firms invest in key suppliers while continuing to diversify chip sources. Big Tech companies including Microsoft, Amazon and Oracle are collectively set to spend more than $650 billion on capital expenditures in 2026, underscoring the scale of investment driving the AI infrastructure race.
