Iran not to abandon peaceful nuclear technology, says president

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Tuesday that Iran would not abandon its peaceful nuclear program, emphasizing the country’s readiness to prove its civilian use of nuclear technology, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency. Speaking with civil activists, Pezeshkian cited policies and a religious decree from Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to underline that Iran does not seek nuclear weapons, while asserting the right to use nuclear science for medical, industrial, and agricultural purposes. His comments come amid heightened tensions with the United States, which has increased its military presence in West Asia. On the same day, Iran and the U.S. concluded the second round of indirect nuclear talks in Geneva, mediated by Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi
