The first day of a new round of trilateral talks between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia concluded on Tuesday, with discussions set to continue on Wednesday. Ukraine’s chief negotiator, Rustem Umerov, said the talks focused on practical issues and potential mechanisms for solutions, and that the results would be reported to Ukraine’s president. Held behind closed doors, the negotiations are expected to cover territorial, military, political, and economic matters, as well as security arrangements, according to Russia’s TASS news agency. Russia’s delegation includes presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, while the U.S. is represented by presidential envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Previous rounds in Abu Dhabi in January and February addressed disengagement and ceasefire monitoring but did not resolve key territorial disputes.
