Global condemnation rises over escalating violence in the West Bank

Violence in the occupied West Bank has intensified amid frequent Israeli military raids and repeated attacks on civilian infrastructure, including the vandalism of a water facility serving about 100,000 Palestinians. The site has been damaged multiple times, disrupting daily life in nearby communities.

On Sunday, Israel’s security cabinet approved measures to deepen control over the West Bank and expand Jewish settlements, prompting Palestinian concerns over land confiscation and rising instability. Israeli military operations in Gaza and Lebanon on Monday also left at least eight people dead, further heightening regional tensions.

Palestinian officials condemned the decisions as illegal and a breach of previous agreements, warning they threaten the prospects for a two-state solution. The moves drew strong criticism from Arab and Muslim countries, as well as from the European Union and the United Nations. UN Secretary-General António Guterres said Israeli settlements in the occupied territories have no legal validity under international law and called for the reversal of the measures to preserve the possibility of a negotiated two-state solution.
