China’s shipbuilding industry retained the world’s largest market share across three key indicators for the 16th consecutive year in 2025, official data showed. Shipbuilding output rose 11.4 percent year on year to 53.69 million deadweight tonnes, accounting for 56.1 percent of the global total, while new orders reached 107.82 million deadweight tonnes, or 69 percent of the world market. As of the end of 2025, holding orders climbed 31.5 percent to 274.42 million deadweight tonnes, representing 66.8 percent of global orders.
