President Xi calls on China, Britain to jointly advocate, practice true multilateralism

In a landmark meeting in Beijing, President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Keir Starmer agreed to establish a long-term, stable comprehensive strategic partnership, marking the first visit by a British leader in eight years. President Xi emphasized that as major economies and UN Security Council members, both nations must transcend differences and maintain mutual respect to foster global stability. Highlighting China’s commitment to peaceful development, Xi proposed expanding cooperation in finance, healthcare, and education, while calling for joint research in emerging sectors like artificial intelligence and green energy.

Furthermore, President Xi urged the UK to provide a fair business environment for Chinese enterprises and encouraged increased legislative and cultural exchanges to foster an objective perception of China. Addressing global governance, both leaders underscored their support for multilateralism and free trade. Xi warned against the erosion of international law, advocating for a just, multipolar world and inclusive globalization to better benefit both peoples and the international community.
