Uganda’s incumbent President Yoweri Museveni won the country’s presidential election, securing 71.6 percent of the vote, the Electoral Commission announced on Saturday. Museveni’s main challenger, pop-star-turned-politician Robert Kyagulanyi, received 24.7 percent of the votes, with the remainder split among six other candidates. The election, held on Thursday, was conducted under tight security but was largely peaceful, the commission said.
