Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called for peace and regional stability during a phone conversation with Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi on Thursday. Addressing recent developments in Iran, Wang emphasized China’s opposition to the use of force in international relations and urged all parties to resolve differences through dialogue rather than external pressure.
Minister Araghchi briefed Wang on the situation, alleging that recent domestic unrest was incited by external forces but confirming that stability has since been restored. While Araghchi stated that Iran remains prepared to respond to any foreign interference, he noted that the government remains open to diplomatic engagement.
Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s commitment to the UN Charter and international law, stating that China is willing to play a “constructive role” in promoting peace. The call concluded with Iran expressing hope that China would continue to act as a key mediator in fostering regional security.
