China is closely monitoring the situation in Iran and will take all necessary measures to protect Chinese citizens, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Tuesday. Responding to the U.S. State Department’s advisory for Americans to leave Iran, spokesperson Mao Ning urged Iran to maintain national stability and expressed China’s support for its efforts. She reaffirmed China’s opposition to interference in other countries’ internal affairs and to the use or threat of force, calling on all parties to act in ways that promote peace and stability in the Middle East.
