China’s “Tianma-1000” unmanned transport aircraft completed its first flight on Sunday. Developed by Xi’an ASN Technology Group under China North Industries Group, the aircraft combines logistics, emergency rescue, and material delivery in one platform.
It is China’s first unmanned aircraft designed for high-altitude, complex terrain, capable of ultra-short takeoff and landing, and switching between cargo transport and airdrop modes. With a maximum range of 1,800 km, it can create rapid “air express lines” and navigate autonomously around obstacles like mountains and buildings.
The modular cargo cabin allows quick reconfiguration for different missions, while an autonomous loading and unloading system can handle tonne-level cargo in five minutes. The aircraft can operate on non-paved surfaces, reach a service ceiling of 8,000 meters, and uses an optical guidance landing system for precise landings even in low visibility.
