From January 6 to 8, 2026, China’s Special Envoy for the Middle East, Zhai Jun, visited Israel and met with Israeli officials, including Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and senior national security and foreign ministry figures, to discuss bilateral relations.
Zhai emphasized the long-standing friendship between the Chinese and Jewish peoples and expressed China’s readiness to maintain exchanges, promote cooperation, and strengthen people-to-people ties. Israel reaffirmed its commitment to the one-China policy and its interest in deepening cooperation across departments and practical areas. The two sides also exchanged views on regional hotspot issues.
