Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Lesotho’s leadership, including Prime Minister Sam Matekane and Foreign Minister Lejone Mpotjoana, reaffirming China’s commitment to strengthen the China-Lesotho strategic partnership.
Wang praised Lesotho on its 60th independence anniversary and highlighted progress under the 10 partnership action plans from the 2024 FOCAC Beijing Summit. He emphasized expanding bilateral trade, investment, and industrial cooperation, implementing China’s zero-tariff policy for African products, and promoting people-to-people and governance exchanges.
Lesotho expressed gratitude for China’s support, reiterated adherence to the one-China principle, and committed to deepening cooperation in infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, and multilateral forums like BRICS. Both sides stressed mutual respect, equal partnership, and collaboration to promote sustainable development, multilateralism, and global justice
