China and Tanzania issued a joint communique after talks between Foreign Ministers Wang Yi and Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, reaffirming their long-standing friendship and strategic partnership.
The two countries committed to jointly implementing development strategies, expanding trade and investment, and ensuring a fair business environment. Tanzania reiterated support for the one-China principle, while China expressed confidence in Tanzania’s leadership.
Both sides agreed to cooperate on the 2026 China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges in areas like culture, tourism, education, public health, sports, youth, think tanks, and media. They also welcomed the TAZARA Railway revitalization project and discussed organizing a high-level meeting to advance the railway’s development.
