U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States would acquire Greenland either “the easy way” or “the hard way,” insisting action would be taken regardless of Greenland’s wishes. He declined to confirm reports about offering payments to Greenlanders and said military force remained an option.
Greenland and Denmark firmly rejected the idea, saying the island is not for sale. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen warned that any U.S. military action against a NATO member would threaten NATO itself and post-war European security.
