President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to the opening of the 2026 China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, marking the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Africa.
Xi said the initiative reflects a shared consensus between both sides to strengthen public support for China-Africa friendship and deepen cultural and civilizational exchanges. He emphasized that China and Africa have long enriched each other through mutual learning and that these exchanges are vital for global peace and development.
He called on both sides to use the year to strengthen traditional friendship, expand youth exchanges, deepen cooperation in governance experience, and jointly advance modernization.
Xi added that these efforts would help unite more than 2.8 billion people across China and Africa, strengthen Global South solidarity, and contribute to building a community with a shared future for humanity.
