Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said he has only spoken once with U.S. President Donald Trump, clarifying that their sole phone call took place on November 21 and lasted about 10 minutes. While he described the conversation as respectful, Maduro said later U.S. actions were unfriendly and reaffirmed his wish for peaceful relations without military confrontation.
In his New Year’s address, Maduro said Venezuela is facing challenges from a position of strength, pointing to growth in the real economy despite external pressure. He added that perceived external threats have strengthened national unity and urged Venezuelans to stay united in resisting imperialism.
