Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin exchanged New Year greetings, reaffirming the strength of China–Russia relations. Xi highlighted progress in areas such as visa-free travel, energy cooperation, and coordination at the United Nations, describing 2025 as an important year for the bilateral partnership. Putin said the relationship continued to develop steadily, with expanding trade, joint projects, and closer people-to-people exchanges.
Both leaders agreed to maintain close communication and confirmed plans for the “China–Russia Year of Education” in 2026–2027. Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin also exchanged greetings, pledging to deepen cooperation under the guidance of the two presidents.
