The Arab League condemned Israel’s decision to recognize Somaliland as an independent state during an extraordinary meeting chaired by the UAE on Sunday. The League rejected the move as invalid and reaffirmed that Somaliland is an inseparable part of Somalia, opposing any attempt to recognize its secession. It warned that Israel’s recognition could be used to support military bases in northern Somalia or facilitate the forced displacement of Palestinians, which it strongly rejected, calling such actions a serious violation of international law. The statement described Israel’s move as a threat to Arab national security and regional stability in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, and urged the international community to confront it. Israel announced the recognition on Friday, a step widely rejected internationally, with most countries reaffirming support for Somalia’s unity and territorial integrity.
