PLA conducts drills on assault against maritime targets, anti-air and anti-submarine operations to north and south of Taiwan Island

China’s People’s Liberation Army Eastern Theater Command carried out military drills around Taiwan on Tuesday, focusing on assaults against maritime targets as well as anti-air and anti-submarine operations to the north and south of the island. The exercises involved destroyers, frigates, fighter jets and bombers, and included identification and verification, warning and expulsion, and simulated strike missions. According to the command, the drills were meant to test sea–air coordination and the ability to conduct an integrated blockade and control operation.
