China’s Meteorological Administration has released a 2025–2035 strategy to build a world-class Earth system forecasting system. The plan combines traditional physics-based models with artificial intelligence to improve weather and climate predictions for disaster prevention and climate adaptation.
By 2030, China aims to deploy next-generation models and unified AI systems, and by 2035 to achieve a fully integrated global forecasting system with high-resolution capabilities. The strategy also supports early warnings, agriculture, clean energy goals, and international cooperation.
