The International Rescue Committee has ranked Sudan as the world’s most at-risk humanitarian crisis for 2026, marking the third year in a row it has topped the list. Ongoing fighting since 2023 has forced more than 12 million people from their homes, leaving many exposed to violence and extreme hardship. Aid groups are struggling to help due to limited resources.
The IRC said global inaction is making crises worse. Although watchlist countries make up only a small share of the world’s population, they account for most people in humanitarian need.
