China aims to strengthen strategic ties with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to protect shared interests and address global challenges, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said. Meeting GCC Secretary General Jasem Albudaiwi in Riyadh, Wang highlighted long-standing cooperation, support for GCC unity and autonomy, and advancing trade, investment, cultural exchanges, and the Belt and Road Initiative.
He also urged finalizing a China-GCC Free Trade Agreement after 20 years of talks. Albudaiwi reaffirmed the GCC’s partnership with China, supporting the trade deal, expanded cooperation, and coordination on regional issues, including the Palestinian question and Middle East stability
