Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Monday that supporting “Taiwan secession” violates China’s sovereignty, constitution, and international law. In talks with Germany’s foreign minister, Wang outlined historical and legal documents—from World War II agreements to the 1971 UN resolution—that affirm Taiwan as part of China.
He criticized recent remarks by Japan’s leader about Taiwan, saying they breach Japan’s commitments, challenge the postwar order, and threaten regional peace. Marking 80 years since China’s victory over Japan, Wang said Japan should act with caution and warned against any signs of re-militarization.
