China’s homegrown C919 passenger jet made its Middle East debut at the 2025 Dubai Airshow, one of the world’s largest aerospace exhibitions, which this year hosts over 1,500 companies and more than 148,000 expected visitors. Two C919s and a C909 are showcased, including a China Southern Airlines C919 with a 164-seat, three-class cabin that drew long lines of attendees. Developed by COMAC, the C919 has delivered 26 aircraft so far, operating on over 30 routes and carrying more than 2 million passengers. China is also displaying a broad range of civilian and military aviation products, including a full-scale Wing Loong-X drone model, the J-10CE and J-35A fighter jets, the Y-20 transport aircraft, and engines from the Aero Engine Corporation of China. The airshow highlights future aviation technologies such as electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (“flying taxis”) and emphasizes sustainability, with innovations in green aviation and the event itself powered entirely by renewable energy.
