South Korean National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik criticized Japan for asserting sovereignty over Dokdo and expanding a museum promoting its claims. He said such actions distort history and undermine Korea–Japan relations. Woo also condemned Japan’s failure to acknowledge forced Korean labor at the Sado Island mines and expressed concern over Japan’s moves to revise its pacifist constitution. South Korea maintains effective control of Dokdo and views Japan’s territorial claims as a denial of its colonial-era wrongdoing.
