BBC Chair Samir Shah told staff the broadcaster will fight any defamation lawsuit threatened by U.S. President Donald Trump over a documentary that edited together parts of his January 6 speech. Trump claims the program misleadingly suggested he urged supporters to march to the Capitol and “fight like hell,” and is demanding a retraction, apology, and at least $1 billion in damages. The BBC has apologized for the editing error and pulled the program but rejects Trump’s demand for compensation.
