The 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) opened on Monday, November 10, 2025, in Belém, Brazil. The event aims to bring global attention back to fighting climate change.
At the opening, COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev urged countries to continue working toward the goals set at last year’s summit in Baku, Azerbaijan. COP30 President André Corrêa do Lago thanked President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva for his support and said the conference must focus on real solutions. He emphasized that progress is still possible through “science, education, and culture,” and called multilateral cooperation essential in addressing climate challenges.
Delegates from over 190 countries and regions are attending COP30, which will run until November 21. Key topics include climate adaptation, fair transition to greener economies, and assessing progress under the Paris Agreement.
