Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the need for high standards in developing the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP) during a meeting in Sanya, Hainan. He described the project as a key policy by the CPC Central Committee to deepen reform and opening up in the new era. Xi urged officials to fully implement the principles set at the 20th CPC Central Committee’s fourth plenary session and to achieve the FTP’s development goals through coordination and sustained effort. The Hainan FTP will begin island-wide special customs operations on December 18, marking a major step in China’s push for high-level opening up and participation in a more open global economy.
