The 32nd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting will be held in Gyeongju, South Korea, from October 31 to November 1. Amid weak global growth and rising protectionism, the meeting is expected to play a key role in promoting an open world economy and shared prosperity.
Experts highlight China’s role in the region. Rino F. Boer, an Indonesian professor, said President Xi Jinping’s participation is significant for deepening dialogue, enhancing mutual trust among Asia-Pacific countries, and supporting inclusive, sustainable, and stable regional development.
Sevim Dagdelen, a German politician, noted that China’s advocacy for an open and inclusive Asia-Pacific framework and support for the multilateral trading system helps promote regional and global economic stability. She emphasized that in the current climate of trade tensions, international cooperation is crucial for the development of all countries, particularly developing and smaller nations, and that China plays an increasingly constructive role in these efforts.
