President Xi calls for turning Palace Museum into window for Chinese civilization

Chinese President Xi Jinping called for strengthening the Palace Museum’s role as a key base for patriotic education and as a window for the world to better understand Chinese civilization. He made the remarks while visiting an exhibition in Beijing celebrating the museum’s 100th anniversary.
The exhibition, titled “A Century of Stewardship: From the Forbidden City to the Palace Museum,” showcases 200 cultural relics and documents, including calligraphy, paintings, bronze ware, and jade artifacts, illustrating the museum’s century-long development.
During his visit, Xi observed the relics closely and emphasized that the museum should uphold its traditions, ensure cultural relics serve the people, and continue efforts in preservation and restoration.
Cai Qi, a senior CPC official, also attended the event. The Palace Museum was founded on October 10, 1925, when the former imperial palace, the Forbidden City, was opened to the public along with its imperial art collections.
