The 2025 Young Scientist Sustainable Development Goals Award at the World Young Scientist Summit in Wenzhou honored four scientists from China, Italy, and Germany for advances in semiconductors, quantum computing, cancer research, and photovoltaics.
Chinese scientists Liu Yingjun and Wang Hui were recognized for innovations in compound semiconductors and photonic quantum computing, promoting industrial application and sustainable computing. Italian scientist Mariangela Russo was honored for cancer research enabling personalized treatment, and German scientist Wolfgang Tress for improving solar cell efficiency and renewable energy collaboration.
The summit also launched programs supporting young researchers, highlighted AI research distribution, and fostered global academic exchange through partnerships with over 200 universities and organizations.
