The 2025 Bund Summit is being held in Shanghai from October 23 to 25 with the theme “Embracing Changes: New Order, New Technology.” Global policymakers, economists, and business leaders are discussing how to build an open world economy amid major shifts in technology and global power.
Speakers emphasized the importance of international cooperation, especially between major economies like China, the U.S., and Europe. Former ECB President Jean-Claude Trichet said a multipolar world makes collaboration essential. Former U.S. Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin warned that U.S. tariff policies hurt global trade and suggested the U.S. and China should work together.
Experts also highlighted China’s evolving financial system, its growing influence in global finance, and Shanghai’s role as a financial hub. They discussed AI in finance, noting that while it is developing rapidly, human expertise is still irreplaceable, and its long-term impact on monetary policy needs more study.
The summit aims to strengthen global dialogue, trust, and cooperation.
