U.S. President Donald Trump urged Russia and Ukraine to stop fighting and “make a deal,” saying both sides should accept current battle lines and let history decide. He made the comments after meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House.
Trump said he does not plan a U.S.-Russia-Ukraine summit and warned against sending Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, saying it could escalate the conflict. He added that the U.S. needs those weapons itself.
Zelenskyy said he is realistic about U.S. military support and agreed not to publicly discuss long-range weapons. This was his third visit to the White House during Trump’s second term.
Trump plans to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Hungary to continue talks, though past meetings have not produced a ceasefire.
