Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said China is ready to implement a visa-free travel policy for Swedish nationals and hopes Sweden will help promote healthy China-EU relations. Speaking with Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard in Beijing, Wang emphasized that China and Sweden should act as partners, deepen cooperation in trade, investment, science and technology, green development, and multilateral affairs, and mark the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
Stenergard, the first Swedish foreign minister to visit China in 16 years, highlighted Sweden’s commitment to a mutually beneficial economic relationship, cooperation in innovation and green transition, and cultural and educational exchanges. She welcomed China’s visa-free policy and praised China’s role in international affairs, including climate initiatives and hosting the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women.
The two sides also discussed the Ukraine crisis and other regional and international issues.
