The 28th Beijing International Music Festival (BMF) opened on Friday evening, October 10, 2025, with the China Philharmonic Orchestra led by conductor Yu Long at the National Center for the Performing Arts. Running until October 24, the festival focuses on the dialogue between classical and modern music, and the fusion of Eastern and Western artistic forms. A highlight of the festival will be the 2nd U.S.-China Art Dialogue, which includes the debut of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Du Yun’s new musical theater piece, The Ocean Etched in the Forest. Other performances will feature international artists and new works, notably the China Premiere of Alban Berg’s opera Wozzeck and a piano recital by Japanese star Hayato Sumino. Additionally, BMF is launching the “Travel with Music” brand, a “Music Festival+” initiative partnering with commercial districts, cultural venues, and hotels to stimulate urban consumption
