Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to strengthen high-level exchanges and strategic communication between their countries.
During the meeting, Premier Li, conveying greetings from President Xi Jinping, stated that maintaining and developing traditional friendly ties is China’s unwavering policy. He expressed China’s readiness to work with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to follow the guidance of their top leaders, deepen practical cooperation, and enhance coordination in international and regional affairs to promote a more just global order.
In response, General Secretary Kim Jong Un emphasized the unbreakable nature of DPRK-China relations, stating that consolidating their ties is an unwavering policy of the DPRK, regardless of changes in the international situation. Kim also reaffirmed North Korea’s firm support for the one-China principle and China’s stance on issues related to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xinjiang, and Xizang (Tibet). Both leaders agreed to maintain close high-level exchanges and promote cooperation across various fields.
