China’s medical tech sector is rapidly advancing, with breakthroughs like surgical robots and brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) transforming care. In a major milestone, China completed its first successful clinical trial of an invasive BCI, enabling a limb-loss patient to control digital devices within weeks. This positions China as the second country globally to achieve this. Backed by government policy and growing investment, the BCI market is expected to exceed 6 billion yuan by 2028, with potential to treat conditions like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. More broadly, China’s medical device industry has grown into the world’s second-largest, exporting equipment to over 190 countries and showing strong innovation momentum.
