An emergency Arab-Islamic summit held in Doha on Monday strongly condemned an Israeli airstrike on a residential area in Qatar, calling it a “flagrant act of aggression” and a threat to regional and global peace.
Chaired by Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the summit reaffirmed full support for Qatar’s sovereignty and backed any measures it may take in response. Leaders warned that targeting a neutral mediator like Qatar undermines ongoing Gaza ceasefire talks and broader peace efforts.
The final communique accused Israel of committing genocide, ethnic cleansing, and other serious violations, and called for urgent international action including sanctions, halting arms sales, and reevaluating diplomatic and economic ties.
It also urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to push for the suspension of Israel’s UN membership due to repeated breaches of international law.
The summit reiterated support for Palestinian statehood based on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital, welcomed an upcoming conference on the two-state solution in New York, and praised Qatar’s mediation and humanitarian efforts.
The Qatari emir emphasized that the summit sends a unified message against Israel’s “state terrorism” and vowed intensified collective action and coordination moving forward.
