The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in Mumbai on Monday, following intense monsoon showers for the second consecutive day.
According to media reports, over 100 mm of rain was recorded at the Colaba coastal observatory between Sunday and Monday morning. The downpour led to severe waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and partial suspension of train services in India’s financial capital.
The heavy rains have significantly impacted daily life, with flooded streets and affected transportation across the city.
