President Xi Jinping stated that China’s recent V-Day commemorations have strengthened national confidence and determination in building a strong country and advancing national rejuvenation. The events marked the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
In a speech delivered after reviewing a report on the commemorative activities, Xi praised the inspiring and unifying nature of the events. He emphasized the importance of preserving historical truth, promoting patriotism, and using the commemorations as educational tools to boost reform, development, and national pride.
Xi also highlighted China’s role in promoting global peace and the post-war international order. He called for continued efforts to share China’s historical narrative with the world.
Key events included a military parade in Tian’anmen Square and a national reception on September 3. Cai Qi, a top official, also addressed the summary meeting.
