Media Leaders from Across ASEAN Unite at 10+3 Forum to Boost Connectivity and Peace

The 11th ASEAN Plus Three (10+3) Media Cooperation Forum was held in Kunming, China, as part of the 2025 International Media Cooperation Forum on the Belt and Road. The theme of the forum was “Increase Inter-Connectivity for Common Development and Shared Benefits.”

The event brought together media personnel from over 100 media organizations representing ASEAN nations, China, South Korea, and Japan. The forum aimed to strengthen relationships between these countries and explore the role of the media sector in supporting regional development.

Mr. Cui Shixin, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of People’s Daily China, outlined four key elements for discussion:
1. Peace in Asia: Highlighting the importance of regional stability.
2. Encouraging Asia Development: Focusing on creating a green environment, smart cities, and technological innovation.
3. Active Cultural Exchanges: Promoting mutual understanding through cultural interactions.
4. Heading to a New Developed Asia: Sharing a vision for future progress.

The forum emphasized that the media industry in East Asia must work more closely together through technology, as the media sector plays a crucial role in regional development and diplomatic relationships. A primary goal of the forum was to foster trust and stronger connections among people, recognizing that media cooperation is essential for peaceful relations in the region.

A panel discussion addressed topics including “Foster New Growth Drivers and Share New Development Opportunities” and “Build Consensus and Enhance People-to-People Bonds in East Asia.” Participants from ASEAN nations shared their perspectives during these discussions.

An example of successful media cooperation was highlighted: when an earthquake occurred in Myanmar, media from different countries collaborated by reporting timely news and information from the affected areas to the world.

The forum concluded with the message that media professionals from these countries bear the responsibility of conveying Asia’s voice to the world.
