Slovenian leaders praised China as a responsible major country and emphasized strengthening bilateral ties during Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s visit to Ljubljana on Saturday. President Natasa Pirc Musar highlighted over 30 years of diplomatic relations and Slovenia’s commitment to multilateralism, free trade, and addressing global challenges like climate change. Prime Minister Robert Golob reaffirmed Slovenia’s adherence to the one-China policy and expressed readiness to deepen cooperation with China in areas including energy, automobiles, and pharmaceuticals.
Wang Yi called China-Slovenia relations a model of mutual respect and win-win cooperation despite different social systems, and pledged to enhance multilateral collaboration, support the UN, and promote peaceful settlement of global hotspot issues. Wang also emphasized high-level opening-up and expanding two-way investment in sectors such as high-end manufacturing, scientific innovation, health, green energy, and artificial intelligence. Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon echoed the commitment to strengthening political and economic ties, positioning Slovenia as a gateway for Chinese enterprises into Europe and supporting stable EU-China relations.
