Charlie Kirk, 31, American political activist and co-founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot in the neck during a speaking event Wednesday at Utah Valley University. The university confirmed the attack, which caused panic as crowds fled the scene.
U.S. President Donald Trump, a close ally, ordered flags lowered to half-staff nationwide through Sunday, calling Kirk “a truly Great American Patriot.” Utah Governor Spencer Cox condemned the violence, vowing accountability for those responsible.
The incident occurred during Kirk’s “Prove Me Wrong” event, where he invited audience members to debate him on stage. His death was also confirmed by Utah law enforcement officials.
Separately, a shooting at Evergreen High School in Denver left three people critically injured the same day.
